The Barry County Methamphetamine Prevention Task Force is a collaborative effort between many agencies and organizations serving Barry County’s residents. This task force, which formed in Fall 2004, is working together to address all aspects of the methamphetamine problem in Barry County.
Barry County was selected to receive Federal grant monies through SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and CSAP (Center for Substance Abuse Prevention). The Office of Drug Control Policy, Michigan Department of Community Health designated West Michigan and this region as a “battle zone” for methamphetamine production, distribution, and use.
This 3-year grant requires Barry County to develop the Task Force and collaboration between agencies and organizations. Public Awareness of the methamphetamine problem is a priority for this Task Force.
